Review: Models Own Beetlejuice Nail Polish in Aqua Violet

Managed to get hold of the long awaiting Models Own Beetlejuice Nail Polish in Aqua Violet this week, by picking it up on ASOS before the release date. I should have bought them all, as they are limited addition and so to my taste, but instead I thought I’d be sensible and just get one, I went for Aqua Violet as it was the one that I liked the idea of the most.

The idea with the Beetlejuice collection from Models Own, is that the colours are inspired by beetles and are multi-tonal, metallic and opalescent. Aqua Violet Models Own Beetlejuice Nail Polish is by far one of the subtler shades from the looks of some of the other swatches I’ve seen, which is a shame as the colour combination is amazing.

The base shade is a beautiful ocean blue with shimmery particles in it, when the shade catches the light (in the right light) it reflects a gorgeous lavender shimmer. Most of the time though, I think this one just appears as the greeny, blue shimmer shade, which is fine, as it’s lovely. Sadly I couldn’t capture the multi-tonal quality of this shade, but I hope you’ll agree that it’s pretty nice anyway in these swatches.

The formula of this Models Own Beetlejuice shade is quite thin, so you’ll definitely need two coats to achieve a full coverage. It might look cool layered thinly over another shade to experiment too. The finish is really smooth and glossy, very professional looking. Although I am a little disappointed in the Aqua Violet’s minimal multi-tonal quality, I still really like this colour and for only £5 I’m happy. I’ll definitely be picking up a few more in this range.

What do you think? Which shade did you go for?
