For anyone who doesn’t know already, I just love my social media and have been lucky enough to make it my career as well as my hobby. I’m sure many of you will agree that social media has become somewhat an essential part of life now, for individuals and brands alike. My thoughts being that anyone, brand or individual, that isn’t making the most of social media of one kind or another is seriously missing out.
Social Media for Brands
From a business point of view, social media is a valuable tool for many aspects of a business of any scale. It offers a direct link for customers to contact a brand, for enquiries, complaints and feedback of all types. It’s a way to offer instant updates and news and promotions.
I also think that using social media helps to give a brand a personality, which is very endearing to a customer and adds lots of interest to many otherwise dull brands. For brands that are exciting and interesting, the personality factor that social media gives a brand, helps enhance brand loyalty and awareness.
For brands with websites, social media often becomes the main referral site for traffic to the brand website, proving the importance of social media to a brand. The above, also applies to anyone with a blog. My top two referrals come from Twitter and Facebook, with blog networks like Hello Cotton and Bloglovin’ close by.
Social Media for Individuals and Bloggers
As already mentioned above, social media opens up so many communication opportunities that you would otherwise probably not have access to. How amazing is it that when we have a question about a product, celeb or brand we can send a tweet out to the world or direct to the brand/celeb for almost instant feedback, opinions and most of the time, answers too.
For the bloggers out there, social media is a must! Simply tagging a brand on Twitter or Facebook when you’ve written about them will boost your readership and offer fantastic, easy networking opportunities. If you’ve written something amazing, the brand are very likely to RT, share or get in touch to thank you, which of course, will open doors.
Social Media, also makes the blogger community complete, so many hours spent catching up with fellow bloggers, offering advice and generally being around for a good chat or bit of support. Amazing!
My main piece of advice for all social media users is that it’s called social media, because it’s about being social, interacting and communicating. So if you are one of those lurkers, start joining in and you will soon reap the rewards.
Social Media is a huge passion of mine, if you have any questions you would like me to answer in my blog posts, please let me know in a comment below or Tweet me @JayneJRead.
