I really, honestly couldn’t care less that Model’s Own decided to collaborate with Hed Kandi this season, Hed Kandi pretty much sums up everything that I am not and never will be. However, when I spotted the beautiful glitter of Ibiza Mix, I really had to say sod it! I need this in my life. Sad but true, but after kicking myself for not purchasing OPI Rainbow Connection when I had the chance, I had to snap up this dupe before it was too late.
I live just outside Central London and thought that it would be a breeze to pick up this beauty, but about six Boots stores later, in various London locations I thought I had been defeated. Then, on a trip up North, to a very small town to visit family, I managed to snap up the last two in the local Boots! Huzzah! I gave one away on a Twitter competition at the weekend and have now sampled it myself!
Because I’m so down with the kids, I’ve named this look Ibiza Mix, Candy Re-mix. I’m so cool.
I chose to layer Models Own Ibiza Mix over Models Own Lilac Dreams to pick out the subtle lilac glitter in Ibiza Mix and to give the polish a fun, girly look. The Ibiza Mix polish is clear with various sizes of hexagonal glitter, there’s gold, turquoise, blue, lilac, silver and bronze. It’s really pretty. One coat of the polish does not provide as much glitter as I would like, so I layered about three coats for the effect below. I guess this is a good thing, as it means you can customise the colour to your liking.
What do you think? I thought it looked a bit like psychedelic Mini Eggs?
You can buy Models Own polishes from their own site or at selected Boots stores for £5 each.
Did you manage to get your mitts on any of the new colours?
What do you think of this combo? Do you have a better combo suggestion for Ibiza Mix?
