I finally used up the last bit of my basic Barry M Base Coat this week, so thought I would treat myself to a quality base coat to replace it. I’ve been wearing nail polish more than usual of late and I’ve noticed that it’s starting to impact on the condition of my nails and cuticles, so I thought a conditioning base coat was in order. I picked up the Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Base and Top Coat Duo in Boots for the bargain price of £12.
They aren’t full sized Nails Inc bottles in this duo which I think is fine, for £12 it’s a great price to give them a go, it takes quite a while to get through any polish bottle anyway I always think smaller bottles are a good idea. Here’s what the box says…
I don’t know if it has actual Caviar in it or what makes it conditioning at the moment, but when I find out the sciencey bit of this product I’ll be sure to add it in. Anyway, the products are really unusual looking as neither of them are clear which is what you traditionally expect from a top coat and base coat.
The main plus for the Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Base Coat and Top Coat is that they dry super fast, which makes it even easier to do a good job on your DIY manicure. The finish is super glossy as promised by the packaging and it makes your manicure last longer. I’ve previously been using Essie Good to Go top coat and I would say that they are quite similar, perhaps the Essie one has slightly more of a glossy finish?
The only thing that bothers my about all Nails Inc products is the bottles, they look gorgeous but I find the short fat applicators a bit tricky to use, so if I had to choose I would go for Essie over Nails Inc in the future, purely because I find the traditional bottle shape easier the apply. For only £12 though, this is a great bundle to pick up in Boots.
