Don’t you just love the random collaborations that OPI do for their limited edition collections? In 2012, to tie in with the release of The Amazing Spiderman (a film release that completely passed me by, despite being a superhero movie fan!) for Christmas, Mum bought me this mini OPI set featuring four of the shades from the collection. The ultimate combination of geekdom and awesome beauty products…
From left to right we’ve got: Into the Night, Number One Nemesis, Just Spotted the Lizard and Your Web or Mine? I love these diddy bottles, it’s just such a useful size. You can actually feel like you’re going to use all of this up at some point and the tiny brush is perfect for painting a neat finish.
Excuse the rogue fluff on these photos, don’t quite know how that happened. These are swatches using two coats of the polishes. Number One Nemesis is my favourite, it’s a gunmetal grey colour featuring tiny flecks of different shades of metallic grains: gold, copper, blue and green. It’s a sheer colour which works as a effect top coat as well as a solid colour when applied to two coats.
Just Spotted the Lizard is similar to the Models Own Bettlejuice Collection, a green, multi tonal metallic green which reflects copper and different shades of green, very pretty but not necessarily the most unique colour. You can get this shade from the high street for a lot less money. But nonetheless, it’s a nice addition to the range.
Into the Night comes across as a deep metallic blue in the bottle, but on the nails it’s much more girly metallic purple. It’s very pretty, but not something I would normally choose. Your Web or Mine looks pink in the bottle and applies as a pearly, metallic candy pink, very girly and again, not my usual thing, but goes great with the purple. Both shades were very sheer and each needed at least two coats. The sheerness can add to the versatility though and both would work layered to add effects to another colour. These shades remind me of the wrappers of Quality Streets, what do you think?
What do you think of these shades?
