I’m pretty sure that most of you will have already spotted these freckled beauties from Illamasqua’s new Imperfection collection. They are by far the star item so far. A nail polish finish that we’ve not really seen before either, so quite exciting.
As part of the imperfect, nature theme of the collection, Illamasqua have created nail polishes that mimic the unpredictable, unique patterns that are seen on bird eggs. I’ve been playing with two of the shades: Freckle and Speckle.
Speckle is a lovely soft lilac and Freckle is a pale, stone brown shade. The speckles come from a matt black glitter that is encased inside these creamy, pastel colours. Seems like a obvious combination, I’m surprised we haven’t seen this around too often before as it’s a really unique finish.
As with all of the Illamasqua nail polishes, they come box and is block glass bottles. I’ve got a few polishes from Illamasqua, the chunky bottle caps can be a bit tricky to paint with, but they look pretty and the quality of the actual polish is always great.
There’s the Illamasqua Speckle polish swatched, I just love it. I’ve not worn Freckle on it’s own yet as I’m not feeling particularly inspired by the colour brown on my nails. However, I attempted a ombre look which I captured on Instagram, which I really like…
The application of these polishes is quite sheer in one coat, so I’d recommend two coats for the best effect. I think that’s fine as I reckon most people do two coats regardless of the coverage. There’s other shades in the collection including an awesome pastel blue and pastel green.
The speckled duck egg nail polishes retail at £14.50 and are limited edition. You can pick them up from Illamasqua, ASOS, Selfridges and Debenhams. You may have spotted the L’Oreal Confetti top coat which has a similar effect to this, but personal, Illamasqua will always win!
