One of my favourite designer brands is Marc Jacobs, so when they announced the arrival of a beauty range a couple of years ago, obviously I was very excited to find out more. The range launched last year exclusively into Sephora. However, unfortunately, we don’t have Sephora in the UK (we should, but we don’t), so when my blogger bestie, Gemma from Flutter and Sparkle offered to pick me a few items up from Sephora on her visit to Las Vegas, I couldn’t resist.
Since it was going to be a long time until I managed to get to Marc Jacobs beauty again, I thought I best opt for practical, so I chose the Marc Jacobs Lovemarc Lip Gel Lipstick in a classic red shade, 124 Surrender Dorothy, plus it has a Wizard of Oz reference in it’s name, so you can’t really do wrong right? The packaging is sleek, curves with a rather fancy magnetic fastening, meaning your lovely lippy will stay safe and sound. It looks amazing. The bullet is an unusual exaggerated curved shape.
From the looks of the bullet, you’d expect a bright, bold matte, at least I would. However, as the name suggests this is a Lip Gel, not your usual lipstick, so the colour is a creamy, smooth slightly sheer shade instead. Here it is swatched is stereotypical beauty blogger fashion, you can see what I mean about the smooth curves of the bullet shape too here…
And here it is in action, worn with the Too Faced Joy to the Girls palette on my eyes and Kiko Velvet Cream Blush too. It’s a lovely classic shade of red, with a slightly easier to wear finish, creamy with a slightly glossy finish that works well for day and night. It lasts well and is to top up with the smooth texture from the lipstick bullet. Most of all, it’s stunning packaging, completely different from a lot of things on the market, I just hope it makes it to the UK soon, the range would look fabulous in any of our department stores.
What do you think of the Marc Jacobs Lip Gels?
Have you tried any of the Marc Jacobs make up?
