It’s been a while since I did a little fashion edit, so very pleased to be sharing with you my pick of vintage inspired handbags from the awesome John Lewis. I love vintage fashion, but personally find it very difficult to shop genuine vintage for myself, I don’t have the patience quite frankly. Also, I like to have a vintage influence in my style but with a modern twist, I’ll never be a true vintage girl.
Anyway, here’s a selection of bags that I just love for their playful, vintage vibe.
You can’t have a list of this nature without featuring a touch of Cath Kidston, right? Just love their simple polka dot prints, they are utterly timeless and so easy for so many different types of people to wear. This oil cloth number is a perfect size for everyday use and the fabric is durable and easy to clean.
Looking for something playful for the evening? Lulu Guinness has to be on this list too, her iconic plastic lip clutches are the ideal blend of kitsch and cute but also a great size for night out essentials. I love the classic red one for the 40s or 50s vibe and the glitter ones are also always on my radar.
Looking for a safe option? This leather bag from Modalu is a lush oxblood red colour in a classic doctors bag shape, the colour and the style has a vintage feel without being too obvious, elegant and smart.
I love this brand, I only just discovered them for the first time and they have some very cute prints, along the lines of Orla Kiely or Cath Kidston. This is one of the plainer bags from Apple and Bee, a bucket shaped tote with a bee embroidery, very cool and again a subtle nod to vintage that would be very easy to fit with any wardrobe style.
And my favourite bags, The Cambridge Satchel Company, famous for brining back the leather satchels that so many of our parents remember from their childhood and now a key item for any fashion or vintage fan. If you want to modernise this classic, choose a bright colour or this super cool metallic leather which would work so well for day or night. I love it!
