Hot pink and cheek pops…

I rediscovered some unloved products this week that had been lurking in my make up box for a while without a single use! As some of you are aware I hate the colour pink, unless it’s for cheeks or lips, so that’ll be the focus of today’s post.

At the moment I’m favouring Sleek MakeUP CC Cream with a base and topping of Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder and concealer in the form of Smashbox BB Cream for Eyes. The powder helps everything stay in place and the bases are just the right shade and texture for my skin. Pale girls, take note!

For the eyes I whipped out a custom palette I put together from Shu Uemura some time ago, it looks so pretty but generally I’ve found the colours in the palette don’t pop as much as some of the other (cheaper) shadows I have. I love the shimmering silver for highlights and the pearly cream shadow is a great base, very similar to Illamasqua Courtier. I used the green and purple for eyeliner flicks and finished with Eyeko Mascara.

Here’s the two pink shades that popped up this month, I’ve had them for some time but haven’t given them a proper try until now.

Clinique Cheek Pop in Berry Pop- First off, how gorgeous is this? It’s a dinky flower shaped beauty in matte hot pink.

Kiko Cosmetics Exotic Shine Lipstick in Pink- Does what it says on the tin, it’s sheer and shiny and bright.

Here’s the swatcheroos, what do you think? The Kiko lipstick is a great deep pink with a nice sheen and the Clinique Cheek Pop in Berry Pop is a lovely, versatile matte pink, great for many skin tones.

The Kiko lipstick is a great bright shade too, although I will always prefer matte to shiny. The shiny finish means it doesn’t last as long either and is definitely not kiss proof. It’s a nice balmy texture though, similar to the bareMinerals Lip Sheers, so good for touch ups.
