So I may have just found the best shampoo and conditioner range that I’ve yet to try! Some of you may have seen this brand before as it’s a super popular U.S brand, it’s called SheaMoisture and it’s been around in one form or another since 1912! You need to know about this brand, it’s launching into Boots this week!
SheaMoisture is a family run brand, set up by Gradnma Sofi in Sierra Leone in 1912, since these humble roots the brand has grown into one of America’s leading cosmetics brands specifically (but not exclusively) targeting afro hair and skin needs. For the first time, SheaMoisture are launching a selection of their beloved hair products into Boots within the UK and opening the brand up to a bigger, broader audience. Although the range was originally designed to cater for the difficult hair type of afro hair and the need to care for naturally frizzy or curly hair, there is something within the line for almost all hair types.
The SuperFruit Complex is the range most suited to the broadest range of hair types but specifically awesome for colour treated, aging or dry hair. For me, this is the ideal range. For an added bonus there’s a massive list of free froms for this product (and all of the others too) here it is:
- Sulphate free
- Paraben free
- Phtalates free
- Parafin free
- Mineral Oil free
- DEA, synthetic fragrance and colour free
- Cruelty free
AND it’s vegan and includes a selection of certified organic and natural ingredients. I don’t think another hair brand has ever ticked so many beauty boxes before.
If you need anymore reasons to love this brand, they also support communities of women in Ghana by sourcing all their Shea Butter from a a community commerce there alongside a whole long list of other charitable acts, it’s pretty amazing! More brands should take a leaf out of their book.
Anyway, enough about the brand as a whole, what’s the product like? Well, the shampoo being sulphate free foams gently but sufficiently leaving hair soft, smooth and clean. The conditioner is a rich Shea Butter and Coconut Oil based cream which really does make a instantly noticeable impression on hair. My hair is naturally straight and quite thick, but I get a lot of frizz and flyaways and this combo has helped tame this and also helped recover my dry tresses from too much dye! I’m really very impressed.
I’d recommend that anyone with non-curly hair would be best to take it easy on the conditioner as it is rich, perhaps only use it on the ends and not all over like the instructions say. The shampoo also contains Shea Butter so would give you enough moisture without tons of conditioner. Saying that, the rich formula does not weigh down hair, my hair has never looked so lively and happy, however I do feel that it makes my hair greasy quicker than another conditioner, but when washing your hair is this much of a joy I don’t see that as a massive issue.
For curly or frizzy hair, this brand is 100% a must try, Miz has thick natural curls and it’s really worked wonders on his locks, adding definition and shine to his otherwise frizzy mane. Really impressive.
This particular formula includes an antioxidant rich blend of super fruits which give the products a pleasant, authentic berry scent which is nice too without being overpowering. The duo are £10.99 each and a little goes a long way and with so many bonus points to shout about I can’t recommend this enough, find it in Boots from this week and online!
