Ok, so if you know me you know I’ve got a bit of a love/hate relationship with Lush, there’s probably some posts about it on here somewhere, but yes, personal experiences of working there and conflict of morals mean that I’m always on the look out for alternatives to Lush, because at the end of the day handmade soaps and bath bombs are always going to capture my attention, some of my first beauty shopping memories revolve around buying handmade soap from market stalls at craft fairs when on day’s out with my parents.
So, Marshmallow Blends has been on my radar for a very long time, as it’s owned by an ex-beauty blogger. Some of you might remember (or know in real life) Nicoletta Blog’s, who was one of the first bloggers I ever worked with at my first ever beauty marketing jobs about 4/5 years ago and I’ve followed her ever since. Special shout out to tsunimee too for making stuff happen in my early days of blogger outreach professionalism.
Marshmallow Brands is a handmade bath, body and home fragrance line based out of Yorkshire and Nicoletta’s physical shop in Barnsley. As their handmade and clearly created out of love, the line up changes quite a bit and there’s always something new to spot on her Facebook page. So I’ve included in this post a little preview of some stuff you might find. I’ve had a wonderful Lemon Meringue Pie scented Sugar Scrub and a Rhubarb & Custard Bubble Bar myself, and my sister’s been sent a bunch more things too!
Everything I’ve tried I’ve enjoyed and I love seeing Nicoletta’s creativity come through via her social media pages too, always thinking up new fragrance ideas or themes for quick collections. And with prices from as little as £2, it’s a super affordable treat to perk you up on a rainy day.
Plus, instead of funding a massive global corporation with possibly questionable morals and conflicts of interest, your money is going back to a family in Yorkshire, so they can continue enjoying the creative journey of running your own small business and having a life/work balance that keeps things fresh. Which would you prefer to fund?
