Ok, so the last few blog are clearly indicating to you my love for geekdom and style combined. I like nice clothes, jewellery, make up and shoes but I don’t dig the mainstream offerings for many reasons. Today I wanted to highlight a brand that I only recently stumbled back upon that I reckon a good handful of my readers will appreciate as much as I do. Introducing to you, maybe for the first time, Her Universe, fangirl apparel for all shapes, sizes and styles.

If you don’t follow me on at least one social media platform than you don’t know this already. So, to most of you I apologise if I’m boring you with yet another post about this, but I’ve got shit to sell and bills to pay, as I’m sure many of you can relate to. This Summer, Miz and I started a new business, Food Scouts. It’s evolved several times since we first had the idea to do something food related, but we’re now happy to present you with an alternative streetwear apparel brand with designs inspired by food and punk rock. Bear with me, there’s more to it.
Super excited for the return of Stranger Things to Netflix this month, in celebration I thought I’d whip together a bunch of ace fan art related products that you might like. Naturally, these are all from indie and small businesses, so the best kind of people to shop from in my opinion. I’m really not a fan of fan art that is too obvious or reproduces content from the original source too closely, so I hope you’ll enjoy my more abstract approach to this list.
I am so bored of seeing Primark and Topshop hauls from bloggers, it does not excite me in one bit. Shopping with these big corporate companies that deal in fast fashion and often low ethics isn’t for me anymore. When I buy a product I want to be supporting more than just a cool item, I want to know that I’m helping a small or indie creator continue to do what makes them happy. I feel like all of our spending would make a much greater positive impact on society if we spent more with independent businesses and less with big chains. And that concept can apply to any category that you want to make a change in, not just fashion.
So, in this spirit, I wanted to share a little wish-list of some cool fashion stuff I’ve seen recently that aren’t from the obvious places and why you should check out the associated brand or creator. There’s so much cool stuff out there, we need to do more to give them the love the deserve. There’s a few Etsy affiliate links in here, so if you do choose to shop something I’ve recommended, I’ll get commission and that will in turn help me continue to create cool content and art. We all have bills to pay, this way everyone wins.
AparTTogether – skate inspired socks from Barcelona
I really like what this brand puts out there, they just launched this cute star print pair and started selling this cute star and moon design. They’re an eco-friendly brand that cares about the people they work with. They are heavily inspired by the skate culture of Barcelona too. What’s not to love? Check out their store on Etsy here.
I’m going to start using my blog more to document projects that I’ve worked on, you may have already seen my first illustration themed post. Today, I’m talking photography and photo editing, which I’m delighted to be getting back involved with since Miz and I launched Food Scouts. I studied Cinema, Photography and Television at Leeds University and have always used photography as a source of research, inspiration and end product in both professional and personal projects.
Last month, we did our first batch of tie-dye limited edition tees and they turned out so nice! These were hand screenprinted and hand tie-dyed by Miz and myself. Here’s just a few some snaps I took and edited of Miz in our local area of Hospitalet de Llobregat.
