So, as I mentioned in my previous hair colouring post I’m currently combating fast fading hair, it’s on its way back to being manageable but at the moment I’m topping up the colour more than normal. A few weeks ago, I went red for a short lived period using a mix of Superdrug Ultra Brights Rebellious Red and Colour Freedom Crimson Red, also from Superdrug.
The problem with lightening your hair or bleaching it before putting another shade on is that it almost always means that your colour fades pretty quick for the first few dying attempts. It’s because your hair is in a compromised condition, the follicle is open which means that the colour particles don’t always stay put. I find you can solve this by a combination of layers of the same colour tones or lots of conditioning treatments. My hair was feeling a bit drab a few weeks ago, so thought I’d pick up a Superdrug Ultra Brights shade to try at the bargain price of £2.99 a tube.
So when hair is freshly stripped or processed you always find that no matter what dye you put on your hair it fades about 10 times faster than at any other time. The reason my blue hair stayed blue so much is that I built up layers of colours and avoided stripping it, just kept adding instead. Anyway, needed a colour stop up of the green so was excited to try the Fudge Paintbox dyes.
I’ve officially had weird coloured hair for over a year now, I had bright orange and bright red for about a year and then went into the territory of blues, purples and greens. I’m pretty sure my hair is just stained blue now and due to a little bleach mishap I’m going to be sticking to this tone for a while longer. Today, I’m going to tell you a little about my latest hair dye trial and shade.
For some bizarre reason my hair seems to be coping really well with being blue. It doesn’t need too much attention and now I’ve stopped pissing around with harsh chemicals and bleach as long as I top up the colour every month or so it’s looking good. I normally use Directions hair dye, but they […]
So 2014 was eventful too right? Not only did I meet Miz, who I’ve been with almost a year now, I also changed my hair colour a gazillion times. Since my hair dye blog posts are so popular and everyone seems to like to know how I got to certain shades and what products I […]
So I’ve been dying my hair red and orange shades for about 7 months now, I wrote a blog post about how I maintain my shade if anyone is interested. I normally use bright fashion shades from La Riche Directions. London based hair colouring salon, Bleach London launched their product line last month, so I’m […]
I’m so glad I decided to dye my hair red, I’ve always loved bright hair colours and now I’ve been various shades of red and orange, I don’t think I’ll go back, it seems so natural to me to have bright hair. Ideally, I would love to have pastel or blue hair, but I’m terrified […]
Thought I should blog my outfit from yesterday’s Hyper Japan event, so whilst the weather has been fine I popped onto the balcony with a remote and my tripod and snapped away. I loved going to Hyper Japan as it’s such an open minded event, you can wear whatever you like and no one […]
Hello everyone! It’s been a while I know. Life is still being strange to be at the moment having recently separated from my husband and starting a new job. However, I’m surprisingly positive right now, enjoying being myself and doing lots of things that I may not have done had I still been in a relationship, wearing […]
