In Conversation with Alex Box: When Make Up and Art Collide...

When make up artist and generally all around creative, Alex Box asked me to help give her new project a shout out, how could I refuse? This wonderful being has helped me learn a lot about make up, art, being creative and being myself over the years, I owe her a lot. I’m very lucky […]

An Honest Beauty Regime by an Ex-Beauty Blogger

It’s been about two years now since it became clear that I was definitely no longer a beauty blogger and I haven’t even posted a selfie since October 2016. I never wanted to fit neatly into one blog category, beauty was just something that I got so involved with that meant it only seemed natural to focus on it for a period of time. In fact, in reality, I never really wanted to be a blogger, funny how things pan out.

Now I’m no longer working exclusively with beauty brands in my personal or professional life, things are different and a lot has changed, I’m also re-learning who I am as being a beauty blogger became such a huge part of my identity and it wasn’t healthy for me personally. I don’t attend blogger events anymore and I don’t receive endless supplies of free products, things in my beauty world have changed a lot! I do still love beauty, but my priorities and circumstances have changed. I’ve had a complete overhaul of my regime as I can no longer afford to buy some of the luxury products I was accustomed to trying for free and I have so much make-up now that I don’t feel like spending my precious spare income on yet more make-up, when I’ve got much bigger plans in my head and other things give me more joy these days than a new lipstick.

Alice in Wonderland Through the Looking Glass x Urban Decay Make Up Collection

Make up and film collaborations are 100% the theme of my week, but I ain’t complaining when it’s something that combines two of my biggest geekdoms. Yes, it’s all part of a bigger marketing ploy each company using the other to boost awareness, create a story and ultimately persuade us into parting with our hard earnt cash. However, when the result is something this pretty you can’t really complain. This is the second Alice in Wonderland collection from Urban Decay and once again they’ve gone full on with it.

MAC x Good Luck Trolls Make Up Collection

Hello blog-reading folks, it’s been a while and this little collection sneak peek is what caught my attention enough to blog. Many of you will know that historically I’m not a massive MAC fangirl normally and have generally been disappointed by some of their limited edition collection as it’s often just repackaged colours or so limited edition that it’s basically impossible to get hold of. The latest news is about a rather retro, nostalgic collaboration with Trolls, which looks pretty special.

We all know those big brands you can find on the high street, but there’s also some pretty awesome indie beauty brands knocking about which you may not have seen before. In this guide I’m going to show you my picks of Etsy’s beauty offerings. Click read more if you’d like to find the retailer’s info.

Poison Ivy Inspired Make Up using Glitter Lips, Sugarpill, Ilamasqua and Kiko Cosmetics

So I’ve done a Poison Ivy costume before a couple of years ago for my birthday and it was pretty much perfect, really was pleased with that one so please check it out! That time it was inspired by the Uma Thurman film version, this time I was messing around with some new products and decided to do my own inspired by. I wanted to do the Hush version of Poison Ivy as I’ve recently read the comic, but with the lack of green face paint I thought this would be nice instead.

Marceline the Vampire Queen Adventure Time Make Up

So this weekend, I’m supposed to be at MCM ComicCon, unfortunately our car broke down and we had no affordable mode of transport and had to spend out comic buying money on car parts instead. Instead of bringing you a MCM post, I thought I’d show you something cosplay inspired instead. My second Adventure Time costume in the works, Marceline the Vampire Queen!

Beauty News: Star Wars Make Up Collection from CoverGirl

I think it’s easy to say that one of the origins of my geekdom is Star Wars, it was one of the first films I remember being super nerdy about and learning all the trivia when I was at primary school and beyond all thanks to my parents sharing their love for it. There’s been TONS of Star Wars collaborations knocking around in the last few years and I think this is largely due to the franchise being acquired by Disney. The latest collab spot by me is this one for CoverGirl. UPDATE: There’s also a collection with the same visuals coming out with MaxFactor in the UK!
