It’s a 100% natural brand made our of resins and water, it has no odour, it’s non-toxic and cruelty free. It does take a bit of effort to learn the best way to apply, but once you’ve nailed it you’ll quickly see the benefits. Super fast to apply, quick to dry and super fast peel off when you’re bored. The latest offering from this ace little brand is this stunning collaboration with nail artist, Sophy Robson.

Match Nails, Duke Street, Brighton

Whoa! I’ve been a bad blogger again, mega bloggers block and pondering about how to give things a boost and if I need to amend my approach, but I think that’s all something for another post and another day. Today, I want to tell you about a little salon in Central Brighton that I visited last week for a nice and relaxing pedicure.

Match Nails is on Duke Street in Brighton about Match Bags, which sells their own brand of luxury handbags and fine Italian leather shoes, very classy and sophisticated, not my personal taste but I can see the appeal for sure. Anyway, the salon is on the top floor of the building and it’s a stunner.

A small, smart, clean and welcoming salon with two pedicure stations and one manicure station. Clean white and lilac walls and a wooden floor match the shops branding without being overwhelmingly girly, very classy! The pedicure stations are gorgeous leather recliners with built in massagers.

The salon exclusively uses OPI nail products, which is great as we all know that this is a great professional brand with a fantastic range of colours and finishes that just continues to grow. Match Nails have a balanced selection of colours and also offer the Gel Nails from OPI.

This feels weird, but yea, here’s my feet…

On arrival at the salon, I was very warmly welcomed by the therapist and offered a drink as you would expect. She was incredibly friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed a very long chat with her during the treatment. I enjoyed their Deluxe Pedicure, which includes the foot spa, scrub, mask, cuticle work, file, buff and paint. This treatment sells for £35 with normal polish and £45 with gel polish. It’s a treat and not for everyone, but I think it was worth it. If you’re on a budget there are two more levels of treatment at £15 and £30 and similar packages for manicures too.

It’s very easy for me to say that this was one of the nicest pedicures I’ve ever had and one of the smartest and most elegant salons I’ve visited. Really impressed and happy to try out another Brighton based beauty business.

Orly Sparkle Mirrorball Holographic Silver Nail Polish

orly sparkle mirrorball silver holographic nail polish paint review and swatch from jayne kitsch jayne robinson

Who remembers a couple of years ago when the blogosphere went mental with GOSH’s holographic nail polish, shade 549, Holographic Hero? It was a shimmering delight that everyone loved, but alas, it only lasted one night or so and didn’t really work unless you used the right base coat. Well, fear not holo fans, you can now get a new and improved version from Orly which ticks ALL the boxes.

In it’s bottle it looks like a weird pearly grey with tiny flecks of holographic glitter in, yes it’s pretty but in its line up against the other glitter polishes in the collection for Christmas I don’t think it’s easily noticed, you can’t see its appeal until you get it on your nails.

It’ll take two coats to get this level of coverage but as with all other Orly nail polishes I’ve tried, it’s great quality and applies really easily. I’ve shown it below with and without the flash so you can see the full extent of the shimmer and sparkle. From a distance and in low light it doesn’t look that exciting, it’s like it looks in the bottle, a pale shimmering grey. The low-fi colour is pretty, quite elegant but doesn’t have the wow factor for me, it’s when it hits the lights that it gets exciting…

SEE!! Isn’t it amazing!? It’s a solid panel of glorious holographic shiny. I’ve been wearing it for three days with Nails Inc Kensington base coat and top coat and so far, no chips and no sign of any problems so it’s already kicking the ass of the GOSH version. I’m pretty sure this is the most unusual, sparkly nail polish that I’ve ever seen. The chunky bottle and rubber grip make it super easy to work with too. I can’t wait to try this over a colour for some snazzy nail art.

Barry M Aquarium Nail Polish Collection: Pacific, Mermaid and Arabian

Barry M continues to be one of my favourite brands ever, it’s affordable, easy to find and always brings a smile to your face. Yes, some of the make up products aren’t the best quality, but they are good value for money. However, their nail colour range always impresses, for me, it’s just as good as some of the luxury nail brands, but for a fraction of the price and they still have all the colours and finishes that you could wish for.

A range of  size new shades, four multi faceted metallic and two new chunky glitters inspired by the sea. Here’s a review of my favourite three, I’ll review the rest of the range in due course I would expect.

Arabian is a pale green base which reflects shades of gold and blue, Pacific is the reverse a pale blue which reflects green and gold. The Mermaid glitter is gorgeous, a chunky blend of green, blue and gold foil flecks. As with all Barry M colours, the application is easy and you can get a decent coverage in one coat, although out of habit I always do two coats anyway. The glitter is a bit more of a challenge to apply, I’d recommend dabbing it on for heavier coverage, rather than brushing it on and allow a bit longer for drying time.

Stunning collection, definitely check it out. I love the addition of the fancy lids too for their collections, this one is a creamy gold with mermaid scales, so cute! A simple but adorable addition to the product. Just love it!

What do you think of Barry M Nail Polish?

What’s your favourite Aquarium colour?
