Alice in Wonderland Through the Looking Glass x Urban Decay Make Up Collection

Make up and film collaborations are 100% the theme of my week, but I ain’t complaining when it’s something that combines two of my biggest geekdoms. Yes, it’s all part of a bigger marketing ploy each company using the other to boost awareness, create a story and ultimately persuade us into parting with our hard earnt cash. However, when the result is something this pretty you can’t really complain. This is the second Alice in Wonderland collection from Urban Decay and once again they’ve gone full on with it.

Beauty News: Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay Palette Sneak Peek

I don’t think there’s many girls of my generation who at some point or another didn’t have a massive girl crush on Gwen Stefani, she’s just cool. Gwen’s hit the news lately due to two things, one being her sad divorce from Gavin, the other being that she’s collaborating with Urban Decay for a palette that’s launching just in time for Christmas!

Make Up Doesn’t Need to Be Symmetrical…

So yea, I’ve seen a couple of make up looks on Instagram lately where the eye make up is intentionally not matching and I really liked the idea, so I thought I would give it a go and see what I thought. Since it was my first try, I’ve gone for a subtle look. Read on to find out what products I used for this make up creation. Also, check out my accidental elf ears!

Debenhams Summer Press Day Preview

20140410_171711

Last week, I popped along to the Debenhams beauty press day to check out some of the upcoming new offerings that you’ll be able to see in the Debenhams beauty hall very soon. Here’s my picks of my favourite pieces and favourite brands, I think the picture tell you most of what you know for now.

They had pic’n’mix, in buckets, with a seaside theme. Win.

I’ve yet to try anything from the CK One collection, which I think has been in the UK for a couple of years now. The highlight for me from this collection including a mascara with a wand that twists to change shapes and this lush metallic nail polish which is fragranced with a Calvin Klein fragrance. 20140410_170257 20140410_170301

Steam Cream, a beauty must try. Think of it as a refined version of Nivea Cream but in a cute tin. Plus, they displayed it on a cake stand so that’s another win.

This is my number one lust have that I’ve spotted this year so far. It’s the Urban Decay Electric palette, this was the first time I’d seen it in real life and it was even more beautiful in real life. Super vibrant neon shades, with a mixture of finishes including metallic and shimmer. Think of how many awesome looks I could create with this beaut. If anyone has one that they’d be winning to trade with me, gimme a shout, I have a whole host of unwanted beige and brown beauty produts that I’ll swap you for!

Some bits from Too Faced, a recent new love for me. The Chocolate Bar palette is a great alternative for the Urban Decay Naked palette and is chocolate scented to boot.

bareMinerals, always a win if you want quality make up that does an awesome job, here’s their handy Mineral Veil in this useful portable device for easy travel and quick top ups. Mineral Veil is their version of translucent powder and absolutely lovely. 20140410_171645

I’ve also had my eye on these Too Faced beauts for a while too, heart shaped and chocolate box inspired packaging, how can you not hear these pretties. They aren’t mega pigemented but have a lovely shimmer and would look adorable on your dressing table.

Nails Inc, obvs. The double ended Pop Art duos are super cute. And Essie, not my favourite professional brand, but they always have cute names and sophisticated, easy to wear colours. 20140410_171711 20140410_171716

Fragrance, of course! There’s tons of it in Debenhams. Pictured on the back row here is one of my current favourites, Rosabotanica from Balenciga, it’s my go to fragrance at the moment, you definitely need to check it out even if it does feature Kirsten Stewart on their marketing. 20140410_171816

I’ve got a long term love affair for Burt’s Bees and Balance Me for beauty ranges on the more natural/organic side of things. There’s something for everyone in these ranges and an affordable way to be concious with your beauty choice. 20140410_17221720140410_172224

Illamasqua Reflection Palette Review from The Sacred Hour Collection

DSC_3139

Gosh, I’m so slow to review these stunning items from the Illamasqua The Sacred Hour collection, that I’ve had my hands on since August! But here’s something safe from Illamasqua for those neutral lovers, this is the Illamasqua Reflection Palette, shot in natural light, you lucky, lucky people!

DSC_3138

These odd, creamy textured water resistant shades are the same formula as the fabulous Paranormal Palette (one of my faves) and within the compact you get four shades of shimmering neutrals: Precipice (Soft Lemon), Acute (Ash Taupe), Graphica (Graphite Grey) or Dart (Toasted Bronze), you really don’t need the god damn Urban Decay Naked Palette when interesting things like this exist girls! The textures are like velvet and these shadows works so well on their own or for adding a new dimension to another shade through layering. DSC_3139Plus, in good old Illamasqua compact style, you get a big mirror too, so it’s super easy to work with on the go. These shadows work applied with your fingers or with a brush, very easy to get along with! Anyway, I gave all of the shadows a go along with the Velvet Blusher in Peaked and Lipstick in Shard from the same collection and here’s the result…

DSC_3149 DSC_3150Gosh, I miss that hair colour too! It stained everything though!

What do you think of this palette?

What are your favourite neutral palettes?
