#IndieLove Day 9 – Silly Old Sea Dog Vintage Inspired Handmade Dresses

Running a little behind on this project, but oh well! There’s bigger things in the world to be worrying about right now. Anyway, time for a double whammy of day 9 & 10 on the same day you lucky people, I hope I can brighten your day even just a little bit with some creative, indie biz loveliness. Today is my 7th Blog Birthday too, WTF?

Anyway, I met the lovely lady behind Silly Old Sea Dog at London Edge last year via the magnificent Perelandra and instantly fell in love with the brand. Everything is made in the UK and they cater to sizes 6-24 including custom designs. They have a gorgeous range of practical, vintage inspired silhouettes in a variety of kitsch, colourful, cute and playful prints. It’s pretty much my ideal dress brand.

Where does my vintage interest come from? #AskJayneKitsch

Hooray! I got my first #AskJayneKitsch question a few weeks ago from the awesome Twitter buddy @tofudogprincess, we share a love of Adventure Time and cosplay plotting. It’s taken me a while to get around to answering this one but it’s a goodie!

Being curvy on the beach…

I very nearly didn’t post these photos that Miz took for me today as I was feeling a combination of hungover, fat and tired. However, Miz (because he’s sweet and because he has to because he’s my boyfriend) assures me that I don’t look fat, I look curvy. I’m not used to being curvy.lady k loves curvy vintage rockabilly style high waisted jeans with a george at asda blue check shirt and sugar and vice lace doilly laser cut necklace and vivienne westwood melissa ultra girl ballet pumps jayne kitsch with purple hair

I can do neutral too, a vintage inspired make up look….

You all know how much I love bright colours right? Well, today I wanted to show you a more muted look and prove to myself that I can use neutral make up, however, I’m not going to be grabbing the Naked palette anytime soon and buying exclusively BROWN eyeshadow (ahem, @Fluttersparkle), so I’m going to show you a look I would wear as a daytime look inspired by a 1950’s pin up girl style. You can check out some images of my inspiration on my Pinterest page.

Vintage Kellogg’s Beauty Gifts from Tesco

Back to normal today with a old school beauty review. This year I’m not sure I’ll be celebrating Christmas, at least not in a conventional sense. But nonetheless it’s always fun to see the cute, fun and glamorous products and gifts that pop up in time for the festive period and here’s one that caught […]

Another weird negative thing about being freelance and working from home which I didn’t mention in my previous post about going freelance is about the way you dress. When you work from home, as you can imagine it’s all about being comfortable and you very easily become lazy about getting dressed and certainly when you do […]

Outfit Post: Glamourous Dungarees and Lady Luck Rules Ok Russian Doll Necklace

So there were a few fails with this outfit post. 1. We waited until the evening to shoot, so I’m shattered and my make up is looking tired and we’d been to Brighton so I’m a bit windswept and 2. The lighting was weird, so Miz is making a little appearance in shadow form. Oh […]

Urban Outfitters AW14 Press Event

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the AW14 preview for one of my favourite high street stores, Urban Outfitters. I’m still a rookie when it comes to writing about fashion events, as I don’t get invited to many, so I think I will mainly let the pictures do the talking. Overall, […]

So I’ve been meaning to do some more modelling for ages. When I lived in Leeds I often modelled for local photographers and brands for a bit of fun and was signed to a small agency and got a bit of work from it too. I love being on shoots, it’s fun and I love […]

The Diary of 1999: The Early Years

So, when I was home for Christmas, at my Mum’s new place in Wales, she introduced my to a box labelled, Jayne’s Teenage Time Capsule. Naturally, I had to have a browse and I found my first ever blog, my very own handwritten diary that I started in 1999, written in a fountain pen that […]
