Ok, so I’ve always been interested in vintage & antique, always prefer old styles to modern & love the glamour of vintage eras like the 40s & 50s. Despite this I have not as yet been a big vintage/ antique shopper, down to a combination of laziness & a hate of the pretentious kind of people who tend to run vintage shops!
Since moving South, I’ve found that the quality of all second hand, vintage, antique & charity shop stock is much higher & tends to be quirkier & in better condition. There is a great antiques centre on London Road, Kingston & I just love the eclectic & quaint shops in Hampton Court.
This month has seen a number of top finds! At our favourite Antiques shop at Hampton Court, we picked up some glasses & a popcorn bowl. On the same day in Kingston, I bagged a cute red gingham playsuit, 1940s and originally from Harrods! Best thing is that it fits perfectly!
A few weeks ago a friend & I attended the free section of the Vintage at Southbank festival. A very busy & hot day it wad difficult to focus on shopping. We did spot Lulu Guiness, which was pretty awesome! I struggled with the vintage clothes on offer, but fell in love with a upcycled dress made from an old school blazer, for only £30! It’s so cute!
Here’s my instagram photos of the described finds!
