Review: Vivo Lipstick Review: Red Red, Coral Flair & Very Berry

I was pleased to have the opportunity to try some of the products from the Vivo range this week, a new range of affordable make up that is available exclusively in Tesco. The aim of Vivo is to provide wide choice of colour at prices that are reasonable. This range has launched in selected Tesco stores in September 2011 and therefore there isn’t much info about, so I’ll do my best to give me honest thoughts on these products.

I’ll be reviewing a few of the products over the coming weeks, so if you’re interested in finding out more about this range, please pop back soon.

In this blog I’ll be reviewing three Vivo Lipsticks: Red Red, Coral Flair and Very Berry.

A nice selection of shades for you to see the choice options in this range. Red Red is a classic red with orange undertones with a medium coverage and a semi-glossy finish. Coral Flair is what is says on the box, a nice soft coral. Very Berry is a soft pink with a golden shimmer. Here are the swatches on my hand for these three Vivo Lipsticks…

Left to Right: Vivo Lipsticks in Red Red, Coral Flair and Very Berry. As you can see the colours are quite sheer and creamy in texture, if you want a more intense colour I’d recommend applying a primer or a concealer base. However, this sheer colour makes these shades more wearable on a daily basis. I always think, you are best seeing Lipstick swatches, actually on lips, so here are my (slightly iffy applications) swatches on my lips.

Vivo Lipstick in Red Red

Red with an orange undetone, sheer and creamy.

I love red lipstick, this is a subtle one, I prefer a matte red, but for a red lips beginner this would be great.

Vivo Lipstick in Coral Flair

Sheer and creamy, a nude style shade with a coral twist.

I’m not usually into orange based lipstick, but I’m actually thinking this peachy shade works for me.

Vivo Lipstick in Very Berry

Sheer, creamy with a little shimmer.

This one I find is similar to my natural lip colour, so is a nice subtle choice.

Ok, so what’s the verdict? The Vivo Lipsticks retail at only £1.99, so naturally you’re going to get what you pay for, I’m used to lipsticks worth at least £10, so this is new territory for me.

I think these lipsticks feel nice on and I love the colours that I tried, but naturally, I think you’re going to have staying power options, so be sure to take the lipstick with you for touch ups. The only thing I really dislike about the Vivo Lipstick is the casing, it’s very flimsy feeling, I love that they have been creative with the packaging colour and shape, but it’s very lightweight and feels like it would easily squish.

As mentioned though, for £1.99 you can’t really complain too much as it’s an affordable beauty pick me up in a range of useful colours, a great way to experiment with make up without breaking the bank.

What do you think of low cost make up?

Have you tried Vivo yet?

  1. Ooh, I have been looking to try a coraly one for ages, but am scared it won’t suit me, so might go for this one…the berry colour looks nice too (i’m desperately trying to find the colour replacement for my paul and joe ltd edition one they no longer make). Have you tried any of the kate moss ones for revlon? I like the look, but was wondering if anyone’s tried them out…

    1. Not tried any of the Kate Moss Rimmel ones, mainly because I despise Kate Moss!

I’ve sent you a message on Facebook regarding the lipstick, talk soon!

  2. I didn’t know Tesco had their own make-up range, and to be honest it wouldn’t be the first place I would go to look but I’m quite impressed with the swatches.
I recently invested in a new Chanel lipstick for my red obsession, so £1.99 for a lipstick is quite refreshing haha
