Everyone should have a bit of Burlesque in their lives, it’s fun, glamourous and sexy, often with a bit of humour and a beautiful vintage look to it. I’m sure you have a burly girl in your life, so thought it would be fun to do a little gift guide for the burlesque beauties you know, whether they are a performer, fan or wannabe burlesque darling, here are some of my favourite burlesque gift shops!
Pearls & Swine
An amazing array of bizarre, creative and beautiful fascinators, masks, collars, shoe clips and jewellery. Really imaginative designs. Pearls & Swine are worn by some of the best of the real UK Burlesque Scene, check out the lovely models on the site to see. My personal favourite, is this totally over the top Cherry Fascinator for £60
What Katie Did
An essential in any Burlesque wardrobe, What Katie Did create reproduction vintage lingerie, corsetry and hoisery including the classic fully fashion nylon seamed stockings. If you really want to treat a lady this year, What Katie Did is sure to impress. I just love the Lalique corset in red with black velvet trim, it’s festive and would go with the above cherry hair piece! This corset costs £209.50, be sure to read up on corset fitting before purchasing.
If you haven’t already heard of Rockalily, you clearly have been missing out on this fabulous independent lipstick business, as run by the wonderful Ree Ree Rockette. I’m including Rockalily on my list because not Burlesque beauty is complete without her red lips and Rockalily is the quintessential Burlesque lipstick supplier. At £14 each it’s well worth it, plus you’re supporting a new small business!
Now your Burlesque Beauty has the look, you need to kit out their home! I haven’t yet seen a better supplier of Burlesque themed homewares than Dupenny. I would quite happily buy one of everything from their kitsch, fun, monochrome range of wallpaper, cushions, ceramics and prints. I think this cushion is my favourite gift item piece though, pricey at £70 but it’s design is fantastic, see it as an investment piece.
