Kanzashi Love

Have you heard of Kanzashi? It’s the traditional name for Japanese hair ornaments, it also refers to the method used to create these pretty little flowers, it’s a a method similar to origami but using folded fabric. I’ve always been fascinated by Japanese fashion and the Kanzashi as seen in your traditional Geisha dress are so beautiful. You’ll also see Kanzashi in Harajuku fashion. I’ve been on the look out for crafters and shops that sell Kanzashi that I could wear for everyday or special occassions, so here are my selection of Kanzashi hair accessories that you can wear yourself!

This beauty is from Cuttlefishlove Kanzashi and is made of silk I love the colours and the falls (dangly bit) It would look great in long hair or as part of an up do!

The Kanzashi from AtelierKanawa on Etsy is very authentic and offer a range of sizes, from small clips to ridiculously over the top, full headdresses! They are so beautiful don’t you think?

Next, I’m looking for the perfect Kanzashi hair sticks, do let me know if you spot some! What do you think, would you wear something like this?
