Illamasqua’s Speckle Eyeliner Technique with Lime Crime and Barry M

After the excellent event that was the Illamsaqua ImPerfection collection launch last week, I could not wait to try out some of the techniques that were demoed to us by Alex Box and David Horne. Clearly the most exciting of these was the speckled eyeliner, designed to look like feathers. I didn’t have a black or white eyeliner at home to try this out, so thought I’d use what I already had and create a blue version.

I used the following products from Lime Crime and Barry M which did the job nicely…

I used the dark metallic blue to line my eyes with a vintage style flick pretty much as normal, but taking a little less care as this look is about imperfection and it’s supposed to be organic and simple to create. Once this had dried a little I speckled on top with both the Barry M silver and the Lime Crime Uniliner in Blue Milk, these shades did just the right amount of contrast and I really like the effect. What do you think?

In addition, I’m wearing other new items from Illamasqua: Immodest Lipstick, Blusher Duo in Lover & Hussy over the top of Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation. My eyebrows are filled in with a Paul & Joe Pencil and I’ve got Sleek Concealer on. More details on those new Illamasqua products coming in other posts in the coming weeks.

What do you think of this look?

Would you wear speckle liner?

  1. Aw, this is a really cute & fun look! I might try this with different colours 🙂

    1. Let me know if you do give it a go, would love to see what you come up with. I shall be continuing with this experimentation, as I think it’s a very effective and simple design.

  2. Looks great Jayne! Have to say this is the first Illamasqua collection that I actually find appealing because it’s not too mental!! So thank you for helping me rediscover my love for Illamasqua ♥

    1. It wouldn’t be Illamasqua if there wasn’t a bit of insanity. I love them for their theatre and drama, would just be like any other brand without it. Pleased that you’ve seen some things you like in this range though.

  3. That looks fab! I really want to try it but I’m fairly convinced I’ll botch it up…although at least then I’ll be keeping in theme with the I’mperfection ideals! xx

    1. Seriously Sascha, it’s SO easy. I love doing eyeliner flicks normally, so for me it’s just a easier twist on the classic.
