This is one of the things I got for Christmas. I’ve not smelt this one before, and although I loved the print on the advertisement for this perfume I couldn’t abide the random addition of stupid Kirsten Stewart onto the advert. It looks so out of place, as if they had already created a beautiful advert and then at the last minute thought ‘Oh crap, everyone else has a celebrity, we best have one’….and then in a flurry of panic, they’ve searched around and thought ‘who’s around and who’s cheap this time of year?’ and stupid Kirsten Stewart happen to turn up.
Seriously, she’s not cool, she’s not looking great and she’s just awkwardly been placed in appropriate clothing and superimposed onto the beautiful printed background. I don’t get it at all. What do you think?
Anyhow, rant over. Here’s the nice review bit…
Isn’t the packaging and bottle beautiful? I don’t know much about the Balenciaga brand, it’s not one I’ve ever really looked at before, so this is a nice introduction. Love the monochrome stripes and bright coloured floral print. It’s not a girly floral print though, it’s tough and oriental inspired. Yes, I said it. Tough floral print. It’s a really thing dontcha know? I love the blue and red effect on the glass, the edging is coloured, but the faces are clear glass. Very unusual.
The official description of this fragrance describes notes of Hybrid Rose (don’t know what that means, but I would like to think that it’s some kind of cyborg flower), Caladium Leaves, Mint, Carnation, Amber and Vetiver. On application you can really smell the rose and carnation, which to me is a very classic fragrance. The warmth from the amber makes this an unusual scent and on dry down, to me, this smells of something really, really specific to me…
Does anyone else remember Bath Pearls from The Body Shop? Well, I think this smells like them when it drys down. It’s a soapy, floral scent, that smells like expensive soap. Some of you might think that it sounds horrible for expensive fragrance, but to me it’s nostalgic and warm.
You don’t need much of this heady perfume to maintain it’s fragrance all day. It’s worth the spend. If you like floral, heady perfume and don’t mind endorsing something with stupid Kirsten Stewart’s face on, then give this a sniff. I wouldn’t have bought this myself due to the endorsement, but am glad I have it to add to my growing collection.
What’s your favourite fragrance at the moment?
What fragrance did you get for Christmas?
