Project Use It Up: Too Many Lip Balms…

I was going to take part in the 100 Day Spending Ban Blogger Challenge, until I realised that 100 days is a very long time and not spending contradicts my New Year’s Resolution about being able to treat myself since I have disposable income nowadays. So, instead, I thought a wise thing to do would be to attempt to use something up that I have too many of.

Introducing, my first ever attempt at a ‘Blogger Challenge’, which I hope that some of you will like to join in with. As beauty bloggers and beauty fans, we all hoard things that we never use up. The two main things that I have too many of is lip balms and nail polishes. As we all know, these are two things that are pretty difficult to completely use up, so thought it would be interesting to see if I can physically use up more than one lip balm in a year.

Do you think it’s possible?

That’s just a selection of my lip balm collection. And here’s the rules of my challenge…

  1. Use a different lip balm each week and write a review of it if I haven’t already.
  2. Don’t buy anymore lipbalms.
  3. Let you lot know how long it takes to use up each lip balm if I actually get to the end of any of them.

If you would like to take part in the challenge, here’s what you need to do..

  1. Choose one group of products that you need to use up.
  2. Do a blog post about what you’re using up.
  3. Don’t buy anymore until you’ve completely used up your stash.

If you’re taking part in Project Use It Up, drop me a comment below with a link to your blog post.

I’ll include my favourite posts on the Project Use It Up in a monthly round up on Facebook, Twitter and here.

Do you think it’s possible to use up a lip balm when you have so many?

  1. I’m doing the 100 day ban. I have too much and need to rein my spending in! Good luck with using the lipbalms up – that’s going to be tough 😉

  2. I’m up for this challenge, I have a number of the same lipbalms so will be interested to hear your thoughts on them!

  3. I am pretty good when it comes to lip balm – I try to only ever have three on the go (one in my bag, one at home and one at work) then I don’t buy any until they run out, which is usually at the same time!

However nail varnish is another matter – I have a box full and I don’t think it’s possible to use one up!!

In the past I’ve done a swop with my friend to get rid of some that I don’t wear very often and I’ve also donated them to the charity shop (only if they are in excellent condition though).

Good luck with your challenge – I’m very impressed!

  4. I want to do this, but it would be skincare in general! It’s actually one of my resolutions for the new year!

  5. I really need to do the 100 day ban as I do.not need anymore makeup and would save a fortune, but like you, this fits with my resolution to just use what I have better. Off the top of me head I can think of at least 11 lip balms that I own and I probably have a few more hidden away. I love lip balm. There are so many cute, new ones and you always need them. Plus they’re affordable. You can have a bit of luxiry in a lip balm. I am definitely going to give this a shot!

  6. Hi!
This sounds like an awesome idea!
I’m going to look at my collection to see what I need too use up! 🙂 I do have A LOT of lip stuff!!!! 😀

  7. Using up lip balm is not a problem for me; I go through those rather quickly. Nail polish, blushes, and lipsticks, on the other hand…let’s just say I needn’t buy any more of those for the rest of my life!
