Rimmel Apocalips in Apocaliptic Review and Swatch

What’s this? A blogger cliché on my blog! Oh deary me. But for this, it’s allowed and this is a product that (for a change) I’m feeling the buzz about and totally get why everyone is going mad for them. I’m not usually one for the mass brands in make up, I do really love my unusual, independent or smaller brands and will always favour them. However, all the blog swatches and reviews of the new Rimmel Apocalips did get me excited, so on the day of launch, I did (in true Beauty Blogger style) rush to Boots and picked up one to try.

I would have been happy with any of the shades, as they are all quite frankly lovely and very appealing. Plus, there’s a shade for everyone. In the end I opted for Apocaliptic as it was the shade I could see myself wearing the most. It’s a hot pink and very glossy. Very similar to OCC Lip Tar in Anime of which I’m a huge fan, although this one is glossier.

The doe foot applicator is quite unusual as it features a little reservoir inside which I guess is there to hold more product, so you get a fuller application. This product looks awesome when applied in a thick coat. The formula is very pigmented and glossy, the name Lip Lacquer is perfect for the finish. I love the shade and think the wearing power if pretty impressive. The glossy finish doesn’t stay, but the colour does stain, so that’s a good one.

Can you spot the smudge?

Generally, really impressed with this product for the price. I’m still going to reach for OCC and Lime Crime over it, but I think this is great budget product if you are looking to experiment with colour without spending too much.

Which Rimmel Apocalips have you purchased?

What do you think?
