Ok, so last week I posted about my thoughts on Bourjois and as some of my friends know, it’s not a brand I’m usually interested in. The packaging is generally boring and the stands in the shops usually look gross, which means I’m not drawn to it. I know that’s down to the shop though and not the brand. Anyway, I’ve been sent a few items from Bourjois to try, so this is the perfect chance to see if I’ve been missing out.
The first item I’m going to review for you is the Bourjois 8 in 1 BB Cream, which is currently an exclusive to Selfridges, as Bourjois features in their The Beauty Department section (in a much more appealing display unit). This foundation sells for only £10.99 and has already sold out once in Selfridges and on Selfridges.com.
Unlike your conventional BB Cream, Bourjois have chosen to put their BB Cream into a cream compact. The foundation also has a 8 in1 claim: perfecting, smoothing, target correction, anti fatigue, anti shine, long lasting hydration and SPF 20. Sounds amazing right?
I’ve never tried a cream foundation before, so very excited to give it a go. Here’s the compact, it’s pretty special…
The compact has a huge mirror, a strong magnet fastening for easy open and close and a smooth sponge applicator included. One of the unusual features is the mirror is on a pivot, so it opens completely flat and also can be turned around 360 degrees. I’ve not seen this feature before and to be honest, I’m not sure of the benefit of it just yet.
I’ve also never applied a foundation with a sponge before, so this was two firsts for me. The texture of the foundation is so creamy, making it super easy to apply. The sponge is smooth and soft, so again a joy to use, application is medium coverage but also feels buildable. This shade is perhaps a tad warm for what I would usually go for, but considering it’s from a high street brand I’m impressed at how pale it is.
Here it is on, photo taken with a flash gun…
I don’t feel like I need a concealer with this foundation and it feels very light weight to wear. I tried this out just on top of skincare, so no additional primer. The coverage is long lasting and complies with all the 8 in 1 claims perfectly. The only thing I did notice is some creasing around the eyes and mouth near the end of the day, but for £10.99, I’m not complaining.
Using a cream foundation is so easy too, it’s quick and easy to touch up and I love the compact, the mirror is great as a everyday compact to keep in your bag. I’d recommend this foundation whole heartedly. The only problem is that it’s only in Selfridges and only comes in four shades, the darkest being a tan shade and the palest being the one I’m wearing.
What do you think of Bourjois prodcuts?
What’s your favourite foundation type?
