Generally, I’m strictly not a lipgloss fan. I like my make up matte with a vintage vibe and lipgloss just reminds me too much of the 90s and my hair getting stuck to my lips and generally not looking so swell. However, I can’t be a real beauty blogger without giving everything a proper go. As you will have read in my previous post, I am in total love with the new Bobbi Brown collection, so when I was sent two lipglosses to try, I was excited to see if they would change my feelings on lipgloss, what with them being better quality that the Claire’s Accessories sparkly treats I used to wear.
These are the new season lipgloss shades in Lilac Rose and Pink Lily from Bobbi Brown, they retail at £17 each. The packaging is pretty standard, square tubes with a simple doe foot applicator. Nothing to complain about, just classic, functional and simple. Here they are swatched for you…
The shades pretty much do what they say on the tin, Lilac Rose is well, lilac and Pink Lily is pink, a pretty soft pink. They are sheer colours which look great on their own or layered with complimentary coloured lipsticks. As with all lipglosses they are a bit sticky, but are not unbearable like some I’ve tried. The formulas also have a lovely conditioning quality blended with botanical extracts, so feels like shiny lip balm rather than bog standard lip gloss.
Here’s the Lilac Rose shade worn on a complete look over bare lips…
The rest of my look consists of Bourjois 8in1 BB Cream Compact in Vanilla, Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Morale. The eye make up is pretty much every shade in the Lime Crime Marie Antoinette pallette finished with Pur Minerals mascara and Paul & Joe Eyebrow pencil. Here’s another shot of the eyes, because I really like them…
Overall, I love these shades of Bobbi Brown lip gloss however, I’m still not a fan of lip gloss and would always rather spend £17 on matte lipstick instead of glossy products. However, they are exceptional quality and I’m sure most girls would adore them.
What do you think of lipgloss in general?
