So this review has taken me a while to get around to writing, was avoiding featuring too much Bourjois in one go after they sent me a selection of pretty purple things. So you’ll be seeing a make up look from me from when I had my old hair do, so looking quite different if you haven’t seen the blonde, fringeless me for a while!
One of my signature make up looks has almost always been the vintage style eyeliner flick, I prefer to use liquid or gel liner for a bold finish or if I’m experimenting with colours I use any eyeshadow and a good thin brush. I’ve been playing with a few pencils lately to see how they perform for this look.
So, at first glance the Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliner is a pretty standard pencil, however I do really like the contrasting packaging design with metallic blue writing on the purple pencil, it really stands out against a sea of black in your high street make up stands. But yes, besides that it’s a normal pencil with a lid.
The nib starts off with the soft curved edge which is a popular preference for eyeliners, however I would personally want to sharpen this to give a more precise application. But again, it’s pretty standard.
There’s your standard blogger swatch image, as much as I hate them it’s the best way to show the colour of this pencil as it really is a beautiful shade, Purple Night is a rich, dark purple with a metallic sheen but without the use of glitter. I really love it and think it would make any eye colour really pop. The application is very smooth and soft, so there is little tug.
The Bourjois Eyeliner in Purple Night worked really well for creating my flicks and love the colour for an alternative to a boring black or brown. The colour payoff is probably slight less than in my hand swatch, but it really does last. As advertised, this eyeliner is a waterproof one, so you will need to use a oil based cleanser to remove it easily, although I didn’t find it a struggle to remove.
What do you think of this Bourjois pencil?
Do you wear purple eyeliner?
