Ahhh! It’s my favourite time of year again, Illamasqua even time and that means one thing, new stuff! As soon as I received the event, I knew it would be love. A spooky, smoky, purple invite with the name Paranormal. I love the tagline too, why be normal, when you can be paranormal? Too right Illamasqua!
So, let’s get to it! Here’s the new collection…
We’ve got to start off with what is bound to be one of the star item in the collection once again, the nail polish! This season, Illamasqua launches three new shade and a new top coat. We have Omen (bright green), Seance (bright violet) and Ouija (bright pink) however, they are not all that they first seem….
They are all UV reactive, so under a black light, they glow! Interesting to see that Illamasqua and Stila have both adopted this technology for their Summer collections. The nail polishes without the glow are still gorgeous, super bright, acid shades with unusual metallic shimmers. I really like the bright green the most!
The next thing made me very happy because I’ve just bought something similar, so it was making me feel like me and Illamasqua were on the same wavelength. Although these purple lipsticks are way better than the one I just bought. Here’s Posture which is a cool mauve and ESP a bright violet purple. I’ve been playing with Posture, which is proving to be more useful than I first thought.
For those of you who have been using Illamasqua Skin Base, but finding it isn’t perfect on their skin, let me introduce you to Hydra Veil, a clever hydration and primer product designed specifically for improving the performance of Skin Base. This thing is a strange, strange jelly consistency (like Astalift if you know it?) it’s the first skincare led product that Illasmasqua have released, so I’m interested to see how it performs.
Here’s my favourite item from the new collection, which I’m very excited to be playing with! Here’s the Paranormal Palette. It’s a quad of four quirky muted neon shades. They are a unusual blend of a cream and a shadow, with a silicone base they are super long lasting and waterproof! The colours look super bright in the palette, but on application they are super blendable, buildable and surprisingly wearable!
For those who love a little shimmer, Gleam Cream has had a bronzed makeover in new shade, Supernatural. I’m not sure if this is something I will wear much, but I bet it will look amazing on tanned skin. I’m going to try it on eyes and lips for my skin tone.
In addition, there’s also a new black gel eyeliner called Infinity. But I didn’t think I’d include a photo of that as it’s not so visually exciting. So, yes, everything is pretty awesome. And to make things even better, I had an awesome time chatting with my make up hero, Alex Box.
Pick up a copy of the Paranormal Magazine when you’re next in store too, as I’ve written a two page article about animal testing for them!
What catches your eye?
Do you love Illamasqua as much as me?
