So, yesterday on my birthday on of my all time favourite brands showcased their new collection at Selfridges. What perfect timing to hang out with some amazing, inspiration people and beautiful make up. So happy! Anyway, the new Illamasqua, The Sacred Hour is inspired by nature and traditional ritual, taking inspiration from crystals, opals and graphite and rituals associated with them. Part of the event featured a crystal healing session using Amethysts, and we got to talk our crystal home, some of us chose to name our crystal too, but I don’t think I need to say anything else about that.
The visuals for this campaign are very different to the last, of course! Inspired by spirituality, magic and nature. It features just two models, the lady with the white hair is the same as the one with the dark hair. Wonderful to see the transformation that make up can create. I love the style of these, they remind me of Merlin, Legend and Dark Crystal. As always I love Illamasqua’s use of theatre and character to create their campaigns, so inspiring and so different from the other brands on the market.
One of the highlights of every Illamasqua event is meeting the people behind the brand, my make up hero Alex Box and the amazing David Horne. I couldn’t resist taking this snap of Alex on her ivy throne, her style is amazing, unique and beautiful and always an inspiration to me. She looks magical.
The collection has a wonderful range of easy to wear, beautiful shades. We have two new cream blushers, a lipstick, eye palette, lashes and two new nail polishes. As well as the new concealer, Skin Base Lift.
The two new nail polishes include a re-release of the limited edition Freak shade, Hemlock a pearly, iridescent white and new shade Facet, a grey crystal shade which is a very special version of a natural nail colour. Both shimmer, and shine and work beautifully on their own or for layering with other colours.
Two new cream blushers, entitled Velvet Blushers join the line up in Sleek, a dusty coral and Peaked a dusty rose shade. These are stunning colours in a matte formula and both shades easy to wear on a variety of looks and skin tones. Nothing scary here. I love Illamasqua Blushers too, they are always pigmented and amazing.
The new eye palette, Reflection Palette features four shimmering, water resistant formulas, very similar to those in the Paranormal Palette in texture and finish. This time we see nude, natural shades made magical with a touch of subtle shimmer and metallic hues. So beautiful on their own or layered over other products. Once more, it’s a palette that suits everyone and that everyone will find some new use from it.
In addition to the pretty colours, a new highlighting, brightening concealer called Skin Base Lift, available in seven shades. David Horne has formulated this as an ultimate concealer, so I’m looking forward to trying this out.
Full reviews on the samples that I’ve received coming very soon, but I think I’m most excited about the nail polish and the palette.
