The Blue Legume, Upper Street, Islington, London

This week I went to meet up with Sally from The Cafe Cat in Islington for a lovely lunch. We headed the The Blue Legume on Upper Street, just a short walk between Angel and Highbury and Islington stations. This restaurant and juice bar is part of a small chain with other locations in Stoke Newington and Crouch End. They have a great variety on their menu, Breakfast is served until 4pm and you can also choose from a range of sandwiches, toasties, burgers and risottos. Drinks wise, there’s Belvoir fizzy drinks and freshly made juices and smoothies.

The venue is a great vibe, very tidy and clean and decorated with lots of bits and pieces with a cosy vintage style going on. Very nice. Since The Blue Legume serves breakfast until 4pm, you can’t not have a breakfast for lunch right? I went for the Cumberland Sausage breakfast swapping out the mushrooms for potato wedges. The portion was HUGE! Poached egg, one sausage, tons of beans, wedges and two rounds of toast and a side of a tomato. All was well cooked and fresh, all delicious too. Just a shame about how huge the portion was as I only managed to eat half of it. The wedges were some of the best potato wedges I’ve ever had, I want more!

Definitely recommend a visit if you’re in Islington, Stoke Newington or Crouch End in London. And what’s even better? I had this massive breakfast and a freshly squeezed apple juice for just over £10! Such a good deal , totally worth a visit!
