Ever since first discovering Kiko Cosmetics for myself last year, after their Regent Street store launch, I continue to be impressed by the creativity and quality that is coming out of such an affordable and still relatively new brand. The new collection, is continuing to be awesome, even if they are claiming the most loose inspirational link ever, Boulevard Rocks is apparently inspired by London alternative music, I’m not sure how, but that’s what they are claiming. Anyway, aesthetically it’s denim inspired textured packaging, silver metallic cases and a range of bold, jewel shades.
First up, here’s the new Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadows. The boxes are super cool in their denim effect print and textured paper, they really look like they should be worth much more than their £7.90 price tag. The colour names are quite lame though, but I think that’s just a massive trend with cosmetics in general, don’t you think?
This is my favourite shade, Inspirational Emerald, which I wore as eyeliner flicks last night by applying it carefully with an angled brush. The texture is a soft cream, which makes it easy to apply with precision as well as making it simple to apply as a block colour should you wish.
Left to right we have: Rhytmic Blue, Inspirational Emerald, Innocent Rose and Revolutionary Burgundy. As you can see they are super pretty, shimmering metallic shades with the most lame names ever, I don’t know why they didn’t just call them blue, emerald, rose and burgundy, but oh well, it’s not the end of the world!
Look at the yumminess! Whipped, metallic, creamy goodness. Not the most professionally filled pots, but the colours make me very happy and for the bargain price of just under £8 each I’m not really that bothered about that. Let’s just bask in the glory of the Kiko prettiness, they really are four fantastic shades.
And here’s the magnificent swatches to show you that they are just as impressive in action. The cream formula is extremely silky and smooth and packed full of pigment, be careful when you apply because with this a little really, honestly does go a long way. Really impressed by how smoothly it applies though and the colours really are lush.
Innocent Rose is a pale pink with rose gold flecks, which would be so pretty on its own or as a base and subtle enough for the day.
Revolutionary Burgundy is more of chocolate brown to me, it’s got gold flecks in and would be lovely as a smoky eye or for defining the brown bone.
Inspirational Emerald is my perfect shade, I’ve been wearing this as liner but would love to experiment more with this shade for some striking, bright looks.
Rhythmic Blue is a dark denim blue metallic and again will be most useful as a liner, although as with the emerald I’ll be experimenting.
What do you think of this collection?
Which shade is your favourite?
