Hooray for another proper outfit post photo set thanks to the awesome Miz! And yes, no natural day light required because I’ve got a flash gun and a white wall for epic photo-ness with minimal effort and without the fear of freezing my ass off on the streets of Shoreditch. This is my outfit from Monday of this week, when we were heading to Kittencamp at Barrio Central for the night and naturally I had to have a cat theme somewhere in my outfit.
It’s very rare for me to wear black, but this Baukjen Ruched Jersey Dress, which I was sent to review has quickly become a favourite staple. It’s lightweight quality jersey which is super soft and cosy to wear. I love that the sleeves are uber long, which is great for a tall girl like me and the ruched effect means that you can have a degree of control over the length of the skirt, here’s I’ve got it ruched short, but it has a kind of Vivienne Westwood vibe when pulled down and worn long, especially with these shoes! At £99 this dress is a treat, but totally worth it if you can afford it, I’ve washed it a few times and it’s maintained it’s integrity and with a simple design like this it’s timeless and easy to style in many different ways.
Yes, the Black Milk Limited Mermaid Leggings are making another appearance already, that’s because I’m totally obsessed with them and they are genuinely the best thing I’ve ever bought. For this outfit they provided a great pop of quirkiness without much effort and they are super comfortable and cosy to wear too. I’ve also already become quite attached to them, the strokeability factor is high too, it’s spread to other individuals too, you can’t resist stroking them.
The shoes are old favourites of mine from Red or Dead bought from Schuh in the sale a few years ago. I love the Red or Dead brand and have a random, personal connection to the designer, Wayne Hemingway. The house I grew up in, which was in Blackburn, my parents bought from Wayne Hemingway’s Mum and when they moved in there was some of his fabric from his Blackburn market stall in the loft. Random, but true story. Anyway, these shoes rock and they remind me of Vivienne Westwood too.
Here’s the cat element of the Kittencamp outfit for you, when I spotted this fabric headband on the Janine Basil website, I just had to have it. I’ve got Nyan Cat on my hair! It’s made of embroidered, thick fabric, similar to the material that clothes patches are made from. It attaches from a little bit of elastic, which I didn’t think would stay in my hair, but it did and it looked EPIC.
Also from Janine Basil, my homage to Scott Pilgrim in pixel heart form and this acrylic necklace adds simple with a touch of geek, I love it.
Make up wise, I’ve got Crown Brushes eyeshadows on my brows, Kiko Cosmetics eyeliner, Illasmasqua Hussy Blusher and Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetines on my lips, as per usual. Foundation is Holika Holika BB Cream fixed with Jurlique Powder. Hair colour is a mystery, an accident involving bleach but is a few shades lighter than Directions Tangerine, which will most likely be my next shade change.
What do you think of the Baukjen dress?
Have you heard of Janine Basil accessories before?
