I’ve always been a fan of Barry M, in fact I’m pretty sure it was one of the first make up brands I ever bought and one of the first make up brands I would have claimed to be a fan of. One of my first Barry M products was Dazzle Dust in hot pink, which I purchased during my goth phase and wore a lot of. Nowadays, it continues to be my go to brand for nail polish that’s for sure, but it’s been a while since I tried anything else from the line up.
They sure have moved on a lot since the days of hot pink dazzle dust! One of their latest offerings are a collection of five lip crayons, Gelly Hi Shine Lips. And here’s what I thought of them when I gave them a whirl…
Once again, it’s another Chubby Stick style product, but this time slimmer, very similar to the Kiko Rock Idol Lipsticks that I reviewed a week or so about. These ones don’t twist up though, I haven’t tried sharpening them yet, but it looks like it might be possible, but I’d be sure to use a proper make up sharpener as the product is very soft.
The range of shades are lovely, each very different but wearable, there’s sure to be a shade for any taste and colouring. The thin pencils make it easy to apply these bold colours with good precision and easily glide on with their super smooth, moisturising formulas. Here’s the swatches.
I love all the shades and would wear any of them, my favouries are the bolder colours in 1,2 and 3. But shades 4 and 5 are lovely day time colours too, but you know me, I’m not afraid of bright and bold so I’d always opt for those over the natural or neutral colours. My favourite one is shade 1, a deep burgundy, berry shade. It’s gothic, dramatic and bold and I love it for day and night time wear.
Overall, the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Lips are very shiny, great colours and smell like berries to boot. For £4.99 they are a great deal, but the price is reflective in their staying power. Although they don’t seem to bleed on me, they do transfer easily, so be sure to blot before you head out with your Barry M pout. The small size makes them ideal for popping into your bag though, so would be easy to top up whilst out and about.
Have you tried the Barry M Gelly Lips?
Which one is your favourite shade?
