Here’s some nude lipsticks that I don’t hate…

One of the beauty things that I’ve never quite gotten is nude lipstick. Why would I want to wear a neutral coloured lipstick when I can have COLOUR!? However, in the past couple of weeks I’ve stumbled on a few nude lipsticks that have been a bit of a beauty revelation for me. To me, nude lipstick generally means brown lipstick, or pale pink which looks bizarre on top of too much tan and a look that I personally really dislike. However, recently I’ve found a few pink nudes (that’s what I’m going to call them) which I’ve actually been loving.

I don’t even know if these shades fit neatly into the nude lipstick category, but for me nude lipstick should be about a neutral or natural colour that kind of gives your natural lip colour a quick boost. For me, I’ve only just discovered how well this lip colour works if you’re wearing busy and colourful eyes, I always go that drag queen step too far and put coloured lips on too, but right now I think this is a more balanced approach.

So here’s the products in question…

Nude Lipsticks That I Don't Hate

bareMinerals Loud & Clear Lip Sheer in Pink- Currently Unavailable

This is a bit of a cheater of a product because it’s not strictly a lipstick, it’s a tinted lip balm. However, because my natural lip colour is fairly dark pink to begin with I really like using this product to just give a touch of colour and keep lips moisturised. I’m a big fan of this brand and in the last few years have really broadened their game when it comes to different formulas and colours. I got this is a Christmas Set a few years ago so it’s not in their current line up, but there’s ton of similar products out there.

Kiko Cosmetics Frosted Look Lipstick in Brisk Mauve- £7.50

This is a second mention for this mega lipstick, like an improved version of the Clinique Chubby Sticks but with awesome matte finish and a lovely rose petal neutral pink, great for super quick and precise application without the need for tons of retouches and reapplications. Also, mega price, so well worth picking up one or two.

bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Liner in Thrilled- £13

The bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie collection is ace, it a range of glosses, liners and lipsticks in complimentary colours with shades across the board from hot pink to true nude, they have everything and each formula is a delight to work with and wear. This one is their lip liner in Thrilled, more brown than the rest, but works great for matte lips or to prepare lips for another colour. Good lasting power and a creamy, smooth application.

Lola Make Up Liquid Lipstick in 004- Currently Unavailable

This is the lipstick that triggered my interest in neutral colours, one that’s been sitting at the bottom of the make up box for MONTHS not being loved because it looks like a bland colour. Figured I’d give it a go as haven’t really investigated this brand much and instantly LOVED it. It’s a liquid lipstick in a twist to activate brush applicator (like the YSL Touche Eclat) and is a lovely creamy petal pink with tons of colour, it dries semi-matte and lasts for AGES. Pretty gutted that I now can’t find this formula on sale anywhere so that I can try some other shades, but you may find it in an M&S Beauty Hall.

Which neutral lipsticks do you like?

What shades do you think I should try next?
