Last week I made a flying visit to London and to my old home area of Shoreditch to finally step foot in Ace Hotel despite living in a building attached to it for over 6 months! Anyway, the 2 hour round trip to London is always worth it when it means Illamasqua and most importantly getting to spend some time with the amazing and inspiring Alex Box. The team introduced us to the new Earth collection which is available now and I’ve got two of the products to show you.
If you want to see the full collection and some awesome old school swatches I’d recommend heading over to Miss Budget Beauty, as I’m not doing swatches I’m just going to show the products in action instead.
Pictured above we have their new palette, the Nomadic Palette which features four gorgeous shades inspired by elements, minerals and the Earth. The colours are: Loam a matte khaki green, Terra which is my fave is a deep terracotta orange, Solitude a matte grey in the khaki spectrum again and Gravity a lilac toned slate grey in a metallic shimmer which is absolutely beautiful.
There’s two new metallic Pure Pigments in the range, this one is Draco which is a soft metallic khaki and the other is called Ara which is a lilac slate grey similar to the one in the palette but in powder form. Although the colour range didn’t catch my full attention straight away with them being fairly neutral, I quickly found their appeal once I started playing with them, so here’s three looks I’ve worn this past week using these two new Illamasqua products.
This one is using Illamasqua Courtier Vintage Metallix as a base, Terra under the eyes and winging out and blended Draco Pure Pigment from the outside inwards, a flick of Wisdom Precision Ink to finish. I used Phee’s Make Up Tips Glow Highlight Powder and Illamasqua Sophie Blusher on the face and a Kiko pencil on the lips.
This one I used pretty much everything in the Nomadic Palette but mainly the Terra and Gravity and Wisdom Precision Ink. Lips are a Clinique Chubby Stick in Curvy Candy and cheeks are Sophie Blusher. I LOVE this Terra bright orange it looks particularly ace with my new orange hair.
This was my first go with the Nomadic Palette using all the colours and blending out with the Draco pigment, I used Illamasqua Magnetism Lipstick and Sophie Blush to finish the look. My brows in all of the looks are done using Sugarpill Flamepoint but you could totally use Terra for a similar look.
Overall, although this collection doesn’t immediately excite me, they’ve used a good balance of easy to wear shades and adventurous shade (that orange!) as well as covering a range of textures. I really love Terra and the Draco Pigment is really pretty and if you’re after a new red lippie deffo check out their new shade, Kin which seems to suit EVERYONE!
