Matte liquid lipstick is one of my favourite beauty things ever when it comes to make up. I love wearing bright, weird coloured lipstick but hate having to reapply or struggle with transferring lip colours when eating, drinking or smooching. My first matte lip colour love was Illamasqua’s Encounter (my first ever Illamasqua purchase too) and then my first liquid matte lip was Lime Crime Velvetines, but since I fell out of love with Lime Crime due to their drama, I’ve been searching for a replacement and I’ve found it!
I’ve been lusting after Kat Von D Beauty for years, especially via their gorgeous Instagram account but haven’t been able to see them in real life and therefore confidently purchase until I visited Sephora in Barcelona earlier this month, where the brand has just launched for the first time outside of America and Canada. I spent AGES swatching stuff and trying to decide what to buy and I settled on two liquid lipsticks, this is a review of the first one, A-Go-Go.
The Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks come boxed in beautiful black packaging with a grey rose print and gothic font in silver foil, perfectly representing the brand creator. The liquid lipstick comes in a long, slender tube with a doe foot applicator and pretty black gothic baroque scrolling. Really cool. They definitely stand out from the crowd. OMG. I did a swatch.
This particular colour is AMAZING, a super bright almost neon orange, they glide on creamy and shiny and quickly dry matte. You may want to apply a couple of layers for full, even coverage but the colour really is a stunner. Unlike previous looks I’ve learnt that a bold lip really does benefit from a simpler eye, so here’s how I wore this shade for the first time.
I’m wearing Phee’s Make Up Tips Glow Highlight Powder, Illamasqua Powder Blush in Lover, Illamasqua Precision Ink in Wisdom for my trusty flicks and Sugarpill Flamepoint for my brows which I’m loving at the moment. Anyway, how awesome is this lipstick? I love the shade, I love that it matches my hair right now and I think it’s totally wearable for everyday too.
The formula is quite dry feeling on the lips, but not uncomfortable and the lasting power really is amazing and doesn’t budge without a lot of effort. You can confidently eat, drink and smooch with this lipstick without worrying about any make up fails. I’ve got another shade to review for you soon, but it’s easy to say that I’m a fan and will be getting more.
