Facebook memories popped up today to remind me that it’s been a year now since I re-branded my blog in both name, branding and design. I thought it’d be interesting to take this moment to evaluate what difference this made to my site and if it was worth it. I know it’s one of those things that bloggers always stress over a lot, so may be helpful to some of you, I imagine this will ramble into some kind of rant too.

I’ve been pondering this post for a while now and even now not sure how it’s going to pan out, but I felt that it was an important post to write as it applies to so many different people. What I want to discuss today is about how anyone with an audience needs to take responsibility to use that audience and influence to create goodness and positivity in the world, there’s so many ways this can be done and I don’t think we consider this enough.

Blogging has been a massive part of my life for coming up to six years this year. It’s brought me best friends, jobs, a creative outlet, experience and all more than enough free cupcakes and lipstick. It’s also brought me school ground drama in my twenties, paranoia and unnecessary stress. Anyway, it all got me wondering about what many of us bloggers would be doing if we didn’t blog or if blogging didn’t exist.

I know the #AskSomeone trend doesn’t usually work too well and usually back fires, with people just speaking their honest mind and generally making for some ace popcorn eating whilst watching Twitter moments. I’m looking at you 50 Shades of Grey lady among many others. However, since I’m no longer offering my advice via Tesco, I’d like to remind readers and followers that I’m still up for lending a hand, completely impartial and because I like to help, so please see this as an invitation to interact however you like, but especially if you want to contribute to this new type of content on here. My degree was in Cinema, Photography and Television at Leeds University and I specialised in doing photography, believe it or not! That means that according to my degree I’m qualified at taking photos and videoing stuff, not that it shows in many things these days! Anyway, here’s an awesome photography related comp that I’m sure many of you will be keen to get involved with.

Remember when you used to see your best friend pretty much everyday? Remember, when if you made a plan you had to stick to it because you didn’t have mobile phones to keep in constant contact? When you used to chat on the phone at least once a week? Remember sending dumb text messages just because you could? Do you remember chatting over all your problems over popcorn and a movie at a sleepover? I could go on and on.

So, I’ve been completely freelance a year in January, so I thought now was a good time to pass on some of the knowledge I’ve gained from the journey. I’m not going to claim to be an expert on the subject of being freelance as I’ve continuing to learn myself, but I often get asked […]
Today I’ve been updating a beauty blogger list as part of my freelance work, it was awesome to find so many new ones and rediscover old favourites via searching and shouting out on Twitter for help. However, it also brought up a whole bunch of things that from a brand point of view make it […]
Good business cards are an essential part of any serious bloggers networking tool kit, it’s a super simple way to promote your site and social networks when you’re out and about (like real life Twitter!). They are also essential if you’re trying to get a job, I’ve always had them and it’s gotten me a […]
